Thank you for you interest. Due to the nature of the sport, boats and fabrics, I have found it necessary to give you a couple of options in covering your baby. First is a cover out of durable stretch polyester double-knit. This is the fabric that made our business. It is durable, long wearing (remember the leisure suits of the seventies?) and is great for UV ray protection. The fabric is not waterproof but you want to be careful with waterproof fabrics on your boat as they build up heat and can damage the surface. Instead it dries quickly and best of all it fits the boat like a glove. You can travel with it with no concern and it goes on and can be removed (when you want to of course) easily. Most of my covers on fiberglass, Kevlar and carbon boats are made from this material. Most canoes in this option run – 160.00-180. The higher price is due to the need to add more material to the girth to give full coverage over the gunwales on some models. Kayaks pending length and width from 180.-for the polyester, depending of course on size. Colors vary based on what is in stock, but here is a sample of some of our colors. Not all colors are seen here, however in stock at this time: forest green, dark gray, lemon yellow, , royal blue, light blue. AND in limited supply: dusty rose, salmon, honey mustard (color of dark Kevlar) and navy. Teal and purple are available for limited striping only. Add a little zing to your bag and everyone will know it is YOU at the put-in. There is a slight charge for added striping. Color swatch samples are available on request. The boat on the front page in RED IS POLYESTER.
WeatherMax... The second
material is WeatherMax, a material made for the outdoors. It is much like
Sunbrella, a well-known fabric used for a variety of outdoor applications.
WeatherMax is waterproof and breathable. It is a non-stretch fabric so the fit
is not as tight as the polyester above. Weather-Max comes in two weights. I
prefer 65 as it is soft enough to be kind to the surface of your canoe or kayak.
It is also great for UV protection and I have found it does not fade like other
fabrics. . People who have a lot of sun, or very harsh winters and store boats
outside, usually choose this option, as do people with wood, canvas or wood
rails. This material is quite expensive but the life of the bag is quite long
and in the long run often worth it. It runs from $260 (canoes) pending width
and other options you may want and kayaks beginning at $240. Colors are usually
forest green and light tan/toast. Neither color seems to fade. Hope this helps. I can do just about anything
if you are willing to take some measurements if I don't already have the
pattern. Let me know if I can help. Here is a sample of what a Weather Max bag
looks like. This one done from specs.
